Harlan (founder of Color Wheel Learning) is one of the hardest workers I have ever come across. He is very daring and highly experimental” - Alvin Loving, American Abstract Expressionist Painter (1935-2005)
My name is Harlan Lovestone, BFA, MA, MFA. I’m an award-winning exhibiting artist and certified K–12 art teacher who has been working with young people of all ages for over 20 years. I was fortunate to study with and be mentored by artists such as Alvin Loving, Gilda Snowden, and Academy Award–nominated animator Gary Schwartz, and I bring that lineage of serious art and playful experimentation into every class I teach.
I’ve taught in classrooms, colleges, community centers, and online programs across the country, always with the same goal: to help kids feel confident, creative, and proud of what they make. Along the way I’ve partnered with organizations including Varsity Tutors, College for Creative Studies, Henry Ford College, the City of Detroit, Greenville County Schools, the City of Chattanooga, EPB (Electric Power Board of Chattanooga), ArtsBuild, TeeterPal, Techability, Kiddy School, and The Boys & Girls Club of Greenville.
I genuinely love sharing my knowledge and my gift for art with young people who are eager to learn—and I design every Color Wheel Learning experience to be welcoming, challenging in the right ways, and fun.
